A cougar is defined as a woman over forty who is in a relationship with a man under 25. More women than ever before in history are being labeled as a cougar. While the concept of an older woman and younger man is not a new one, it has never gained the attention it now does. This is because it has traditionally been kept hush-hush. Men have always been considered behaving “normally” when they had a younger woman hanging on their arm, as long as she was of age, nobody says much. On the other hand, the reverse has traditionally been looked upon as unnatural.  So, why has the cougar become more prevalent in the past several year.

Compatibility

Women may mature emotionally quicker then men, but whe it comes to peaking sexually, they do so at a much later age then men. With this being the case, women of forty often reach their peak at the same time as men in their early to med-twenties. This makes a relationship between what appears diverse age groups seem more practical, as both partners are likely to find themselves satisfied than if they were with partners of their own age group.

Freedom

Women over forty have mostly been married once and had their kids, who are either grown or close to being on their own. They now enjoy a kind of freedom to do what they want, to live out their pantasies and basically enjoy being a woman. The chance of pregnancy is pretty much eliminated, which increases the feeling of freedom to enjoy sex for its own sake. Men in their 20s aren’t thinking about settling down yet. They enjoy the feeling of freedom being with an older woman offers them. She isn’t likely to talk about settling into marriage and having kids because she’s already been there.

In the end, the cougar relationship is a win-win situation for everyone.
